The overall aim of our research is to improve access to safe drinking water (6th UN sustainable development goal) – we are currently funded by GCRF and are expanding our collaborations to other countries and continents!

We are currently carrying out multidisciplinary research on:

  • Development of inverse vulcanised sulphur polymers for the capture of heavy metals
  • Synthesis of photocatalysts for the degradation of organic contaminants
  • Investigation of biochars and activated carbons as adsorbents

Our team are currently developing various water purification technologies able to improve the quality of water, with a real-world focus in some areas of Kazakhstan and Uganda together with Kazakh and Ugandan teams. We have developed various novel proof of concept technologies.
